Fundraising
Our 2009-2010 predicted budget costs are R520 000. In order for us to meet this target we need ordinary people to do extraordinary things! Here are some fundraising ideas that some of our members have already tried. The key to a successful fundraiser is... HAVE FUN!
- At a 60th birthday, a woman invited guests to make a donation to iKhaya le themba instead of bringing her a gift.
- A school did a sponsored Walk-a-thon.
- A woman took her friends out to a restaurant that agreed to donate 10% of their takings to iKhaya. The friends also each made a donation.
- At a 40th birthday, a woman invited guests to donate a bottle of wine which was then auctioned at the party.
- Christmas gift cards were made so that people could make a donation to iKhaya le themba as a gift for a friend.
- A church ran a Christmas market stall with members making and selling goods and sharing the profits.
- Children from a Sunday School sold fruit kebabs during the coffee break at church.
- Two women invited all their friends and family to a quiz night charging a ticket entry and selling beer on the night.
- A cafe was hired out, donations of wine solicited and tickets sold to a fundraising dinner.
- A women did a sponsored bike ride through the Swiss alps.
